Is the property lease agreement legal in Bahrain?

Indeed, the lease agreement is an important document in Bahrain. For all types of property to lease, a lease agreement or rent agreement must be signed by the tenant and the landlord. The tenant and landlord may be either an individual or a company. 

How to make a rental agreement in Bahrain?

The lease agreement must be on stamp paper. The specimen of the Bahrain stamp paper is attached herewith for reference. The present cost of an agreement paper is 100 fils (Subject to changes). One Bahrain Dinar is thousand (1000) fills.

This agreement is in two sets. All the agreements are legally valid, only when both parties sign the agreement.

Both the tenant and landlord will sign on both sets. Also, one copy is held by each party in the agreement.

What languages are used in a lease agreement in Bahrain?

The lease agreement uses either English or Arabic language. However, the judiciary is using the Arabic language agreements for all court procedures. For that purpose, the English language will be translated into the Arabic language.

What is the rent agreement period in Bahrain?

Of course, there is no such time limit restriction to agree. However, the normal property rent agreement period is one year to two years.

But, the tenant is leaving the country within the fixed period, he is not liable to pay the rent for the remaining period.

Again, if no fixed period is mentioned in the agreement, the total period of the lease will be considered a fixed period. 

What is a CPR in Bahrain? 

The CPR is an identity card issued by the Central Population Registry department. Indeed, everybody in Bahrain has to keep this CPR card with them always. Also, for all identity-checking places, it has to produce. 

First of all the expatriates have to stamp the Resident Permit(RP) in their passport. Then they have to apply for CPR.

What documents are needed to prepare a lease agreement in Bahrain? 

 The basic document is CPR. Besides, some landlords keep the Passport copy with the RP stamp of the tenant.
